On October 20th, Fiona’s life began, and we became a family of four. We now know the amazing dynamic of what it is to have sisters. For the last ninety days, I have been more of a full-time-mom than I have ever been in my life, and that set-apart space has allowed me to meditate on my kids in a special way. I have taken immense pleasure in small simple moments. Lingering after Fiona has fallen asleep just to watch her breathe. Being woken up every morning by Charlotte who can’t wait to start the day by giving Fiona a hug and a kiss. All three of us wearing pajamas at least fifty percent of the time. Slow seasons are a blessing. And as my maternity leave comes to an end, I want to share with you a little glimpse into what it looked like around our house these past three months.
My love for the Vestal family grew even bigger this October when Lauren, mom of Jackson and baby Joshua, delivered my second child, Fiona. What a blessing it was so have such a deep experience with someone who had shared her own very personal experience with me, a few years ago, when she let me into every moment of her wedding day as her photographer. I love you Vestals. Here are some recent photos I took of absolutely adorable 9 month old Joshua, and his big brother Jackson.
I love this family. Every time I photograph them, I laugh a lot, and learn at least a few things. This time, I walked away extremely impressed at their graceful transition from one child (wonderful, irresistible, hilarious Ellen), to two (tiny precious little Georgia who I look forward to discovering more and more as she grows). Here are a few favorites from my time with them, just about 1 month after Georgia was born.
Christy and Jacob are one of my roots couples. I’ve known them and loved them since I photographed their wedding in 2009, and it is a joy to continue to know them and photograph the growth of their awesome little family. Beau turned one in December, and lucky for us, when we met to do some family shots, it was 70 degrees in December in Kansas City. Take a look at this cute boy.
